Rarely do we have a deep discussion about carrying out trade and doing business off book and off the grid. We all use a debit or credit card and order online. We all shop at stores and do business with companies that prefer the card over cash. While we are doing what is convenient the government is monitoring our transactions. Every time you swipe your card the purchase is being recorded. You may try to fool yourself and say it doesn't matter. While you're saying that the government is tracking your financial transactions and private companies are selling your information and your buying habits so that they know what to sell you. It is insanity.
There are already hoarding laws on the books and the government has contingency plans on how to identify violators. There are laws that contemplate the confiscation of contraband. If you are a prepper you are probably already in violation of federal law. Government isn't likely to prosecute you because you are building up a stash that they can get later when they need it. Why prosecute you while you are building up inventory for them to take later on? They're thinking it through so you should be too. My advice is that you only purchase small amounts of food over what you normally buy. It is more difficult to detect when you are only buying a couple of cans of food per week as opposed to full cases. If you want to buy in large quantities then pay for it in cash. Don't ever create a paper trail.
Outside of that I am starting this thread to discuss ways we might employ using silver, gold, or other bartering items in order to do business with like minded people. When we continue to see news stories about countries going cashless it is a wake up call. Consider this as your personal alarm going off. Any ideas on creating ways to use gold, silver, or maybe even things like tools, ammunition, seeds, or anything else to get a secondary economy going?

Americans have destroyed their own Right to Privacy by allowing all their business to be tied to their Socialist Surveillance Number ...ooops "Social Security Number (SSN)." Do you want to see the doctor, dentist, grocer, pharmacist, public utility company, or apply for credit? Then get ready to answer that question: What's your social?
Without anonymity there can be no resistance. If there can be no resistance, then prepping and disagreeing with the masses / powers that be is an exercise in futility. You may as well give up and admit that you are a subject in the NEW WORLD ORDER. Does that get your attention?
Money has four basic functions:
1 - A Medium of Exchange
2 - Standard of Payment
3 - Store of Wealth
4 - Measure of Value
Figures passing back and forth on the computer screen have no store of wealth; offer no real medium of exhange; have no measure of value. Federal Reserve Notes are not money. They aren't backed by gold or silver. You would think that alone would encourage all of you to abandon the current system and deal in silver, gold, or some other medium. You should want to get into barter or anything that Uncle Scam can't trace back to you. The philosophy on this board has always been to build a community within a community so that you can operate off the grid. I'd like to go further in this discussion.

Barter would be a good way to trade if you could assign values to certain things. A bullet for a 9mm that is brass cased FMJ 115 grain might be worth 35 cents right now and special rounds like 147 grain hollow points might be as high as a dollar if you are talking the best quality. Silver is hard to deal with. Hopefully someone can weigh in and give some insight. This is the problem for those like myself. If I purchase a one ounce pure silver round it is usually about $35. Spot silver is about $18 an ounce. If you know metals it might be possible to buy junk silver. How you would ever determine a trade value is beyond me since some coins have 90 percent silver and maybe less.
One thing for sure. With the government hiring 87,000 new IRS agents, millions of rounds of ammo being bought up by the government, regulatory agencies like the IRS and the Dept. of Agriculture being issued machine guns along with the Census Bureau tracking civilian ammo purchases - something big is going down. You don't want the government tracking what you buy and what you are putting on your shelves for future use. The use of debit and credit cards should be avoided. If someone does have some insight, but don't want to post on the board then send me a private message.

I hadn't revisited this thread in a really long time until tonight. I was getting ready to do an episode for lee to edit and put on his proposed podcast and started thinking about silver and other precious metals as a way to barter. Oddly I have some silver rounds from the good old days (late 1980s early 1990s) that were stamped with the Patriot Network logo on them from when it existed. So, we've been down that road before.
Apparently nobody is doing business in precious metals or barter. Otherwise I'd have done business with them. But, in the future, it may be the only way to operate off grid. Little by little the globalists are erasing this avenue as a possibility. If you cash silver in with a dealer, it is reported and the IRS considers it taxable. It's only practical use (unless you can afford a loss on your investment) is to limit it to doing business with those that accept precious metals as a barter item.
If anyone wants to start using silver, gold, etc. as an item of barter - and maybe beans (food in general), bullets, heirloom seeds, tools, etc. as trade items just let me know.

While there may only be two of us posting on this thread, I want to give those people who haven't thought about this another opportunity to prepare. This may be a temporary inconvenience OR it might be the real deal. Better safe than sorry. We've discussed why you should be off the grid and not creating paper trails that lead to your doorstep. It is illegal to hoard food and supplies: 50 U.S. Code § 4512 - Hoarding of designated scarce materialsIn order to prevent hoarding, no person shall accumulate (1) in excess of the reasonable demands of business, personal, or home consumption, or (2) for the purpose of resale at prices in excess of prevailing market prices, materials which have been designated by the President as scarce materials or materials the supply of which would be threatened by such accumulation. The President shall order published in the Federal Register, and in such other manner as he may deem appropriate, every designation of materials the accumulation of which is unlawful and any withdrawal of such designation. In making such designations the President may prescribe such conditions with respect to the accumulation of materials in excess of the reasonable demands of business, personal, or home consumption as he deems necessary to carry out the objectives of this chapter. This section shall not be construed to limit the authority contained in sections 4511 and 4554 of this title. (Sept. 8, 1950, ch. 932, title I, § 102, 64 Stat. 799; July 31, 1951, ch. 275, title I, § 101(b), 65 Stat. 132.)OTOH, there are a lot of things that are illegal, but the government doesn't pursue it for very obvious reasons. In this instance all the government has to do is declare that something is unlawful. And there are other problems for the preppers. I've been trying to buy land. Most of the time they want you to have animals OR raise food, but not both. Most places want you to have public utilities if you live on the land. Some utility companies don't want to hook you up to public utilities if you are self sufficient. I've witnessed the electric company not wanting to provide electric service to those with solar panels and a windmill for generating their own power. In many places the government doesn't even allow to save your own rain water. But at some point you will decide to live or become a slave, trusting your future to a financially and morally bankrupt government. I'm sure you haven't forgotten the toilet paper shortage a couple of years ago. And they don't make Sears and Roebuck catalogs any more. Disinfectant was in short supply too. Stock up this winter. You may want to invest in stuff that doesn't cost much, but has many uses. Arm and Hammer Baking Soda is cheap and has many uses: www.mommykatandkids.com/2017/06/100-handy-uses-arm-hammer-baking-soda.htmlAlso, when you go to fast food places, get plenty of the to go condiments like sugar, salt, pepper, spices, ketchup, mustard, etc. Store them in sandwich bags in the refrigerator. The thing of it is you have to exit the system and get off the grid to the greatest extent possible. Check back here regularly because we will discuss things I've learned and practiced since the late 1970s.

I continue to keep coming back to this thread to give people last minute advice. A lot of people are on the net as self proclaimed preppers. I've done this stuff most of my life. I live it. So, I won't be telling you to go out and buy the latest and greatest gear or junk you may not need. What I will tell you is that you should start prepping now.
Staying off the grid is something you will be glad you did. It wouldn't hurt to cut ties with the cable / satellite company either so as to protect your privacy. They still make Blue ray players, DVD players and even cassette tapes. Sound old school? When you are prepping, you don't want information in your computer. Go old school. AND even opt for things like books. A good library will serve you well. All the money you will save doing it that way will give you a sizable budget for your future prepping. Everything you do is being looked at when you visit the Internet or watch on cable. Make it hard on for others to catalogue your life.

Far too many people don't consider the consequences of going cashless and allowing money to become demonetized.
1) Companies keep a detailed list of what you buy down to the last bean, bullet and roll of toilet paper
2) Stores sell your information to others so they can market to you
3) The feds keep a list of what you buy and that way should your belongings become illegal tomorrow, they know who to come after:
4) With 87,000 new IRS agents on the horizon and the policy of forcing you to report all transactions in excess of $600 for the YEAR, every dime you put in the bank will be monitored. Example: You sell a single item for $600 dollars from your personal belongings, it becomes taxable income and you have to report it - sell a dozen items (even yard sale fare) and if you do it via Zelle, Venmo, etc. and the total goes over $600 it's income. Use cash
5) Any Tom, Slick or Harry can get access to your whole life if it is done via credit or debit cards and / or linked to the Internet.
Get the hint? Don't create paper trails.
