Too many laws and regulations

I am not a lawyer or anything like that but I think that if we were to fill a room with all of the legislation in this country we would need several mansions.

I only see three crimes that are real:

1- Destruction/invasion of property and loved ones

2- Theft

3- Breach or contract - written and verbal

All other crimes have no victim and NO VICTIM = NO CRIME.

Let me give you some examples:

I do not drive drunk but drunk driving was not a felony until M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) was created by some lady who lost her son in a drunk driving accident and started lobbying congress to get drunk driving laws passed.

I think that drunk driving accidents should just be put under the reckless driving law. It is 5 times more dangerous to drive while putting a cellphone to your ear and 20 times more dangerous if you watch TV or look at the GPS screen while driving than when drunk.

Interesting fact- "One for the rod" did not use to mean having a last drink before heading out of the bar. Bars used to give you a special little container to drink in your car while driving.

So when I reach a well-lit intersection at 3 am and there is not a car or person in sight, why the hell do I need to stop at a red light? I am not a robot.

Also, why should I observe the speed limit when driving on an empty country road with no one coming in any direction for hours at a time?

I am also not a drug user but what right does the government have to tell me what I can and cannot consume? This might sound crazy but they have already made it so you can consume some life-saving, natural supplements nor can you go see the medical practitioner of your choice unless he has a degree in Allopathic medicine and is licensed by the AMA (American Medical Association)? They cal Homeopathic medicine^* quackery and placebo so why do they ban it? Since they think it is nothing but useless sugar pills then why do they care?

(What if someday the FDA deems oranges to be harmful and bans them as they are trying to do with peanuts. See wat I mean?)

I can go on and tell you it is really about money and that their excuse is that licensing prevents unfair competition but do you know what unfair competition is? ANYONE WHO PROVIDES THE SAME SEVRVICESAS YOU BUT AT A CHEAPER PRICE!

Don't think so? If you are a doctor or dentist, then try offering your services for free? the AMA and ADA will have you shut down in weeks.

Regulations, licensing, certification = Price Gouging.

Back in the 1930s if you painted the word TAXI on your car then you are a taxi and the fare is privately negotiated between you and your passenger and is no one's business, especially not government's. Now, what the Hell is wrong with that? We are adults and do not need nannies or a nanny state along with its nanny laws.

^* I don't really believe in Homeopathic cures but saw on TV once where farmers cured their animals using Homeopathic additives to their food. Animals do not know what medicine is. This makes me have to research more about it. There is a chance that it is not the medicine but the heartfelt intent of the farmer. Homeopathy, when tested under the scientific method fails every time so it might have something to do with the power of intent (prayer). I have seen prayer heal people.

My opinion and comments and only we are few in number for the moment.  IMHO a crime occurs when you have an aggrieved party.  That is lawyerese for saying you need a victim.  Who is hurt because a guy drives drunk?  Nobody is hurt until you have an accident.  That is the original idea behind crime and punishment.  At the moment most of our laws are statutory laws and regulatory laws of which number more than the statutory laws passed by Congress.  You have to pick your fights.  I see something like what you brought up to be interesting points in the developing of a platform of political beliefs.  It's not something I would think would in the next few years sway public opinion.

With homeopathic cures I think they have their place in everybody's medicine cabinet.  As you said it's  free choice you should make for yourself.  Be informed. www.webmd.com/balance/what-is-homeopathy

We do need some laws that limit false advertising.  OTOH, if a seller is up front about their product it is Caveat emptor.  That is more lawyerese for Buyer Beware.  You should have the facts about products and services.  If some company offers to do a job and is bonded, insured, licensed, and approved by the government you should have unlimited amounts of recourse if they screw up.  If a person chooses to do business with the shade tree mechanic then the user of services has limited options.  It still should be an individual choice.  

Driving is tricky.  The government will tell you that you have to get a license to drive.  A license is permission from the government to do an act that is otherwise illegal to do.  OTOH courts have ruled that a citizen has a right to travel.  Licenses and permits for driving - technically speaking taxi drivers, truck drivers, and other people that use the roads for commercial gain are required to to have a license.  Originally just to travel did not require permission.  OTOH the Tea Party lobbied hard to force everyone to get SSN based National ID cards.  That is prima facie evidence - that's even more legalese double talk - a person is subjected to those statutory laws also known as privileges and immunities.  You are talking ideology against an evolution of laws and court decisions that changed our form of government.  Sometimes people forfeited their rights through fraud and duress.  Great for us.  We have that Charter to put the government on notice that we are reclaiming our rights.

Grievances can be anything. Painting my house a color you do not like could be a grievance to you. But as long as I am not infringing on your rights. You can do the same thing and I will just have to accept it too.

False advertising would be considered a breach of contract. If you advertise X and when I get there you try to sell me Y as X or at a different price than advertised then that would be a breach of contracts. If you advertise X and it doesn't do what you say it does then you need to return my money or that would both breach of contract and theft.

Oh, I have taken Homeopathic cures before and am pretty familiar with them. Homeopathy actually existed before Samuel Hahnemann and was a school of Traditional Chinese Medicine that still exists. The cures I took didn't work for me but others have said homeopathic remedies changed their life overnight. It depends a lot on what your ailment is. Psychological stull like anxiety and depression don't really have good homeopathic cures. Alcohol can cause depression and anxiety but I doubt a drop of alcohol put in water and diluted to the millionth degree would cure depression and anxiety. There are some people who will do silly things such as go to an Oriental acupuncturist to help them quit smoking. How can that work when the ancient Chinese didn't smoke.

Originally you only needed a license to operate a commercial vehicle as you said such as a stagecoach. Even now, you do not lawfully need one to drive and many in the past have won such cases in court but regardless, if you get pulled over and don't have one, you are going to jail no matter what your say to the cop. So yeah, it does seem as you said that driver's licenses are not about the right to drive but are there to sucker you into other forms of identification.

I just used driving as an example. Licensing doesn't show proof of competency in any way. Licensed doctors still commit malpractice and licensed teachers are still having sex with their students.

Government should not have the right to permit us anything. Their job and only job is to protect me and you and our families and that are it. They are just people and not an entity unto themselves. They should not have the right to own anything, not even the property their offices are built on and work out of. Right now I hear 1/3 of American sold is federally owned.

Grievances and offenses have to have a victim or else we will become a nation of lawyers.

There are only two rules I try my best to live by:

The Golden Rule - do unto others as they would have them do unto you.

The Silver Rule - do not unto others as you would not have them do unto you.

And the Silver Rule must have precedence over the Golden Rule. If I see you drowning in the pool in your backyard, I will hop the wall and try to save you but if you tell me that it is your choice and none of my business then the next time I see you downing, I just keep on moving.
