As we begin to approach the warmer months, you are hopefully thinking about the gear you might need to survive the inevitable time when the excrement interacts with electric oscillating device (aka SHTF.) On these boards we talk a lot of firearms and they seem to be the obligatory thread. What we don't see are threads that discuss gear to any great degree. If you carry a firearm you need to have a sling. That's a topic within itself. Then there is Load Bearing Equipment (LBE) and the Load Bearing Vest (LBV); there are War Belts, Plate Carriers, Rucksacks and all kinds of combat gear whether it is the antiquated ALICE gear or current MOLLE. Honestly, I'm more of a student of gear rather than an aficionado. I've never participated in a war so my opinion and five dollars might be enough to buy you a cup of coffee in most restaurants. Other than that, we will be learning together unless someone with hard core experience jumps in and shares their knowledge with us. Recently I began to update my antique ALICE gear (Vietnam era issue) and went with a war belt by ATS. After I experimented with the war belt I found that it was simply too heavy to stay up without suspenders. I have them on order and already there is a problem - or at least an anticipated problem. BEFORE attaching suspenders to a war belt, it was pretty simple and straightforward to have a rifle with a sling to go with that ensemble. So, here is the problem: With suspender straps over both shoulders, how will this affect a rifle sling? This is the kind of thing I'd like to address. But, to get you started, here are a few links regarding what I'm learning about war belts and suspenders: atstacticalgear.com/ats-war-belt/atstacticalgear.com/search.php?search_query=padded+chest+harness
