I want to thank John for the rather lengthy phone call late last night and to summarize what we talked about so it is transparent.
There are rules here. If the board allowed one person to violate the rules without recourse we would only have chaos and a board run by one person. So, that left us with banning people OR making the field level and then addressing the problem. The policy that was agreed on here is to allow a person to violate the rules and then allow for a response followed by locking the thread. I'm sure that the Professor will go along with that and if there are other interested posters they can weigh in on it.
The objective is to deny trolls and rule breakers the luxury of having the last word. That should deter them. The one thing you will note about microliquid / Liquid_Reigns is that he will not initiate his own threads. He wants to criticize and look down on his fellow posters. Here he gets exposed; here Liquid_Reigns will have his own threads where he can be held accountable AND when he goes on other boards, the posts here can serve for a very interesting link for those sites where his antics are tolerated. The two entities are one and the same. I fully support his Right to a Freedom of Expression. He has to understand that the policy here is unlike any other. There are no protected classes here. If someone starts a thread and they tire of my replies or those of someone else), they get the last word and they can lock the thread to end the arguing. People who find themselves posting repetitive attacks can expect that their posts will be moved.
The thing is we should be able to discuss topics without harassment and intimidation. Most boards allow for cheap shots and unwarranted attacks, then punish the individual that responds. Whether that is right or wrong, it is how the game is played - EVERYWHERE else. On Friday John is officially in charge of the board and the rest of us will cease to have any more influence over policy. He has agreed with what we hoped to accomplish. liquidmicro /Liquid_Reigns is the quintessential stereotype that we don't need. He claims he was invited here; claims that people told him all manner of hearsay. We're just providing him a place to express what it is he wants to say without the luxury of avoiding accountability. He gets it this week. Maybe next week I might be the one being spanked. The thing is, maybe we aren't being read by the Internet world, but people do look at this site. You see how many views each thread gets. What can't be said elsewhere can be said here and most other sites will allow a link to here.
I end this with a personal note: If anyone thinks that I've committed a crime then you should report it. I welcome it and encourage it. That way, when I am knowingly and falsely accused of something I will have the Right to face my accuser. So, it won't matter whether the accusation happens here or elsewhere. The posts here will only serve to show that the accuser is doing so with malice. If you want to know something, you can always ASK. That works better than an accusation. If you attack someone, they reserve the Right to defend themselves. Beyond that, you will only have the opportunity to be treated like a joke. So, post, discuss, talk, do what you want here. Respect your fellow posters and all will be well.
